Lawyers representing managementat -owned Lumiere sent letters Thursdah to representatives of Local 74 and its spinoff, , announcin a withdrawal of recognition of Local 74. “Thee union has evinced a lack of continuityyof representation, altering the identity of the bargaininhg representative and establishing a fundamental changd in the bargaining representatives,” DLA Piper lawyersz representing Lumiere wrote to Dave Morton of Unite HERE Local 74 and Noel Beasle y of Workers United.
Lumiere started receiving competing claims about whicyh union was representing its kitchen andhousekeeping workers, creating confusion about the official unionn representation, said Todd George, general manager and vice president at “Our hope was that the unions wouls be able to work this out amongsr themselves,” he said. “We’re trying to stay out of the middlew of thesecompeting unions.
